About Seattle Reads

Seattle Reads is a "one book, one city" program, where people are encouraged to read and discuss the same book. It's designed to deepen engagement in literature through reading and discussion.

Everyone is invited to participate in Seattle Reads by reading the featured book, joining in a book discussion, and/or attending programs with the featured writer.

Each year the Washington Center for the Book hosts an author for a series of free programs.

A program guide with the schedule of events and resources designed to enhance a book group's discussion of the author's work is available at all Seattle Public Library locations, as well as many local bookstores. It is free to book discussion groups and readers throughout the Seattle area. The guide can also be viewed online on the Library's website at

The Library lends hundreds of copies of the featured book to readers prior to the author's visit. Check with the Reader Services Department at the Central Library or your branch in March. Books are also available through the Library catalog.

Seattle Reads: Homegoing is made possible by The Seattle Public Library Foundation and The Wallace Foundation, with additional support from media sponsors The Seattle Times and KUOW 94.9 Public Radio.
