The Seattle Public Library Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Local Cultural Series at the Seattle Art Museum June 16

The Seattle Public Library will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Seattle's groundbreaking cultural series, Seattle Center Festál, by co-hosting a two-part panel discussion on "Race, Identity and Culture in the Pacific Northwest" in June and August.
Library events and programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Dates, times and locations are as follows.
Noon to 2 p.m. Friday, June 16 at the Seattle Art Museum, Arnold Board Room, 1300 1st Ave.
7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium.
Culture figures, artists and historians will each share their views on the value of race, identity and culture in relationship to communal celebrations. They'll also discuss what role ethnic gatherings have in strengthening identity.
This event is presented in partnership with the Seattle Art Museum.
In 2017, Seattle Center Festál celebrates 20 years of global music, dance, art, crafts, history, food and insight presented through a unique partnership among community organizations on weekends throughout the year. This series of 24 ethnic cultural festivals seeks to connect people in ways that build understanding, dispel stereotypes and generate pride among the generations who participate in these shared experiences.
