Able Accounts: Info Session for People With Disabilities at the Seattle Public Library April 19

The Seattle Public Library will host an information session on tax-advantaged savings accounts for individuals with disabilities and their families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 4, Howard S. Wright Family & Janet W. Ketcham Meeting Room 2, 206-386-4636 .
Library events are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $6 after 5 p.m.
Members of the disability community, caregivers, non-profits, social service organizations and anyone else interested in learning about ABLE accounts are invited to attend a "Listen and Learn" information session. The Washington State Department of Commerce, ABLE Advisory Council and Northwest Access Fund will have staff available to answer questions before and after the main presentation, which begins at noon.
On March 29, 2016, Washington state Governor Jay Inslee signed into law HB 2323. The ABLE Act allows certain individuals with disabilities and their families the opportunity to contribute to a tax-exempt savings account that can be used for maintaining health, independence and quality of life. The bill went into effect on June 9, 2016.
This event is presented in partnership with Washington State's Department of Commerce, the ABLE Advisory Council, Northwest Access Fund and the Financial Empowerment Network.
