Author Readings Presented by The Seattle Public Library in January

The Seattle Public Library will feature writers and their work at several locations throughout Seattle in January.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Peter Manos – 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Montlake Branch, 2401 24th Ave. E., 206-684-4720. Local author Manos will discuss "A Girl Named Cricket," about a teenage alien who is tricked into leaving her dying planet and forced to enroll in high school in California.
Claudia Castro Luna – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Southwest Branch, 9010 35th Ave. S.W., 206-684-7455. Join our Washington State Poet Laureate for an evening of conversation and poetry. This program is part of the Words, Writers & West Seattle series which features writers connected to the Duwamish Peninsula.
Celia C. Pérez – 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Pérez will talk about her award-winning book, "The First Rule of Punk," which follows the adventures of 12-year-old Malú as she moves to Chicago and learns more about the intersection of Latinx and punk music culture. "The First Rule of Punk" is a 2019 Global Reading Challenge selection.
Aaron Dixon – 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Northwest African American Museum, 2300 S. Massachusetts St. Dixon will discuss his new book "My People Are Rising: Memoir of a Black Panther Party Captain." He will cover the legacy of the Black Panthers in today's political climate, and imagine what Black radical imagination might look like in the 21st century and beyond.
