The Seattle Public Library will feature writers and their work at several locations throughout Seattle in July.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Roberta Newland and John Newland-Thompson6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at the Southwest Branch, 9010 35th Ave. S.W., 206-684-7455. Newland and Newland-Thompson will talk about the research that went into their book "The Cle Elum Fire of 1918." The authors, whose ancestor's barbershop was lost in the blaze, will describe a town of immigrants before the fire, during the fire itself, and the rebuilding process. This event is part of the Words, Writers & West Seattle series, which features writers connected to the Duwamish Peninsula, and presented in partnership with the Southwest Seattle Historical Society.

Ibi Zobois7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Zobois reads from and discusses recent work while teaching for Clarion West's Writer's Workshop. Zobois is the award-winning author of "American Street" and "Pride," and recently released "My Life as an Ice-Cream Sandwich."

Elissa Washuta and Theresa Warburton7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Monday, July 22 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Join us for an evening with Washuta and Warburton, editors of "Shapes of Native Nonfiction," a new anthology of essays by contemporary Native writers. They’ll be joined by contributors Laura Da’ and Ruby Murray.

Ann Leckie7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Leckie reads from and discusses recent work while teaching for Clarion West's Writer's Workshop. Leckie is the award-winning author of the Imperial Radch trilogy that begins with "Ancillary Justice," and recently released "The Raven Tower."
