'Baseball: Culture in Cuba' Exhibit at The Seattle Public Library Nov. 1 Through Dec. 31

Baseball season may be over, but the sport lives on at The Seattle Public Library's latest exhibit Baseball: Culture in Cuba. Visit the gallery on Level 8 and the display on Level 5 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., where from Wednesday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 31 you'll see photographs by renowned photojournalist Ira Block that reveal everyday life in Cuba with a focus on baseball.
Library events and exhibits are free and everyone is welcome. Tickets and reservations are not required to visit the exhibit.
Block's imagery captures a wide variety of baseball players - men, women and children - photographed over the last three years. With the 2016 death of Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro, Block's photographs capture a remarkable time period in breathtaking colors.
As part of the exhibit, there will also be video interviews with Ariel Miranda and Guillermo Heredia from the Mariners about how baseball influences the culture of Cuba. The videos will be screening at the Central Library and at www.spl.org/baseball.
MEET THE ARTIST
Artist Talk: Ira Block & Cuban Baseball with Trio Cubay
Photojournalist Ira Block, whose vivid images offer iconic glimpses of Cuba's love for baseball, will talk about his work and passions. Musicians from Trio Cubay will open the event with Cuban and Caribbean sounds and harmonies.
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.
