Concerts, previews and performances in March

The Seattle Public Library will host concerts, musical preview lectures and dramatic performances at several locations throughout the city in March.

Jazz Concert with Johnaye Kendrick – 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, 104 17th Ave. S. Join jazz vocalist Johnaye Kendrick and her band for a special Seattle Public Library concert. Kendrick will be sharing highlights from her new album "Flying," along with musical renditions inspired by Nat King Cole and Lauren Wood.
Ladies Musical Club – 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at the West Seattle Branch, 2306 42nd Ave. S.W., 206-684-7444. Join us for a concert featuring music for oboe and piano, as well as keyboard music by J.S. Bach. Featured performers will include Sharon Jung, oboe; Abigail Habegger and Karin McCullough, piano.
Ladies Musical Club – Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditoritum, 206-386-4636. Join us for a concert featuring piano music by Debussy and Rachmaninoff, as well as songs for soprano voice. Featured performers will include Joyce Gibb and Nola Allen, piano; and Susan Strick, soprano.
Bach in the Subways – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Johann Sebastian Bach turns 334 years old this March! To celebrate his work and to sow the seeds for future generations of classical music lovers, musicians around the world are sharing his music by performing in subways, public spaces, and concerts open to all. Performers include Cernabella (Ervin Luka Sešek & Amber Archibald-Sešek), Andrew Chen, Gabriela Hannach, Mark Hensley, Emiko Hori, Larry Hsu, Adrianna Hulscher, Luke Fitzpatrick, Karin McCullough, Laure Struber and Isaac Van Hoecke.
Lithuanian Extravaganza – 2 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. Sunday, March 24 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Join us for an afternoon celebrating Lithuanian culture, filled with great music, dancing, theatrical performance, author readings and family fun.
