Follow a Storywalk® Trail at 4 Parks During Earth Week, Presented by The Seattle Public Library and Seattle Parks & Recreation

Reading and the outdoors go together like kids and playgrounds! During Earth Week, from Wednesday, April 21 through Saturday, April 24, The Seattle Public Library and Seattle Parks & Recreation are bringing you StoryWalks® in four parks around Seattle. From Herring's House Park (Tualtwx) near the Duwamish Longhouse to the wetlands of Magnuson Park to Genesee Park to Northacres Park, children and families can follow the trail and read along to great picture books.
A StoryWalk® is an outdoor reading experience: A picture book is installed on signposts along a walking route, where families can read along as they walk (or hop or skip) and enjoy the outdoors. A StoryWalk® is a perfect outdoor activity in the era of social distancing, encouraging reading, imagination, fitness and exploring your community.
The four StoryWalks® installed during Earth Week feature culturally relevant picture books that seek to highlight diverse characters and experiences while emphasizing our shared connection to the natural world through lively storylines and vivid illustrations.

- Magnuson Park (Magnuson Frog Pond Park and Ride, lot E-5), 7400 Sand Point Way N.E., Seattle. Book: The Storm Whale, by Benji Davies
- Northacres Park, 12718 First Ave. N.E., Seattle. Book: The Tin Forest, by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson

The Earth Week StoryWalks® are part of a project called StoryWalk® in the Parks, a partnership between Seattle Parks & Recreation and The Seattle Public Library to promote reading, community and outdoor fun. StoryWalks® will be popping up all over Seattle in 2021.
