Scientist Mario Livio Examines Curiosity at The Seattle Public Library July 20

Best-selling author and scientist Mario Livio will explore the concept of curiosity and discuss his new book "Why" from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636 .
Library events are free and open to the public. Tickets and registration are not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $6 after 5 p.m.
In "Why," Livio brings together the latest findings on curiosity from the fields of neuroscience, psychology and evolutionary biology. He tells stories about curiosity from famous thinkers such as Leonardo da Vinci and Richard Feynman, and interviews curious people at the top of their fields, including Noam Chomsky, Fabiola Gianotti, Brian May and Marilyn vos Savant.
Livio is an internationally known astrophysicist, best-selling author, and popular speaker who has appeared on The Daily Show, 60 Minutes and NOVA. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is the author of "The Golden Ratio," a highly acclaimed book for which he received the International Pythagoras Prize and the Peano Prize; "The Equation That Couldn't Be Solved;" "Is God a Mathematician?" (which inspired the NOVA program "The Great Math Mystery"); the national bestseller "Brilliant Blunders;" and "The Accelerating Universe."
