The Seattle Public Library Presents Neal Stephenson and Nicole Galland at Town Hall June 12

Best-selling authors Neal Stephenson and Nicole Galland will read from their latest novel, "The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.," from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 12 at Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave. (8th & Seneca).
Library events are free and open to the public. Tickets and registration are not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $6 after 5 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Set in the near future, "The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O." is a thriller where magic stopped working during the Great Exhibition at London's Crystal Palace in 1851 - the world's fair celebrating the rise of industrial technology and commerce. Now, it's up to the Department of Diachronic Operations - D.O.D.O. - to develop a device that can bring magic back, and send Diachronic operatives back in time to keep it alive.
Stephenson is the author of "Reamde," "Anathem," and the three-volume historical epic the Baroque Cycle ("Quicksilver," "The Confusion" and "The System of the World"), as well as "Cryptonomicon," "The Diamond Age," "Snow Crash" and "Zodiac."
Galland's five previous novels are "The Fool's Tale," "Revenge of the Rose," "Crossed," "I, Iago" and "Godiva." She writes an etiquette column for the Martha's Vineyard Times.
