No Holds, No Wait On Brand-New Books In July: New Peak Picks Titles Available At Open Library Locations

Cool off this summer at The Seattle Public Library by grabbing a hot title and reading in one of our air-conditioned buildings. This month, eight new books will be added to the Library’s popular Peak Picks program, a collection of recently published, in-demand titles that can be checked out with no holds and no wait.
July additions to the Peak Picks catalog includes titles such as:
- “The Startup Wife” by Bangladeshi & British writer and columnist Tahmima Anam
- “Seek You: A Journey through American Loneliness” by writer and illustrator Kristin Radtke
- A terrible kidnapping in "Dear Miss Metropolitan" by Carolyn Ferrell
- The Catch-22 of impossible decisions in "Falling" by T.J. Newman
- "Nadiya Bakes" by Nadiya Hussain, winner of The Great British Baking Show
- A gender-bending retelling of the founding of the Ming Dynasty, "She Who Became the Sun" by Shelley Parker-Chan
- "This is Your Mind on Plants" by food writer Michael Pollan
- “Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption and Hollywood” by actor Danny Trejo
There are 56 Peak Picks titles available – you can view them all in the Peak Picks Current Titles Book List.
Peak Picks selection varies by location, so stop by in person to see what is available today. New titles are added often, so if the book you want is not available, you will probably find another great read at the Peak Picks display. Patrons cannot place holds on these popular titles; they are first-come, first-served, and can be checked out for two weeks at a time.
Browsing is allowed at all open Library locations, and when you come in, Peak Picks titles will be waiting for you! As just announced, the Library will be reopening four more branches the week of July 5: the Green Lake, Northeast, Northgate and West Seattle branches.
