With the sun out, grab a new book on your way to the beach! Patrons of The Seattle Public Library can check out recently published, in-demand titles with no wait through the Library’s beloved Peak Picks program.

Here’s how it works: All Library locations that are providing Curbside Service and In-Building Service will offer a "daily menu" of around 10 Peak Picks titles that are available until supplies run out. Staff choose the 10 titles based on what is new and what they think patrons will like.

“Readers can be assured that whichever 10 titles are highlighted on a particular day, each book was carefully selected by librarians to bring a great read their way,” said Linda Johns, Reader Services librarian at The Seattle Public Library.

As with Peak Picks in the past, the checkout time is two weeks because of the high demand for these titles. But there is no limit on how many different Peak Picks books a patron can check out (as long as their account allows it). Patrons cannot place holds on Peak Picks titles. If a branch runs out of a title, it will be crossed off the "menu" and a substitute added.

The current Peak Picks catalog includes in-demand titles such as “While Justice Sleeps” by politician Stacey Abrams; “Legends of the North Cascades” by award-winning author Jonathan Evison; “Yoke: My Yoga of Self-acceptance” by Instagram star Jessamyn Stanley; “The Secret to Superhuman Strength” by graphic novelist Alison Bechdel; “White Magic: Essays” by local Indigenous author Elissa Washuta; and “Crying in H Mart: A Memoir” by Michelle Zauner from the PNW music project Japanese Breakfast.
