Get one-on-one help searching for affordable housing, and learn how to protect your rights as a tenant, at three free drop-in sessions from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 21, Dec. 19 and Jan. 16 at the South Park Branch, 8604 Eighth Ave. S., 206-615-1688.

Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. All Rent Smart sessions will be offered in Spanish and English. For Spanish text describing the sessions, visit the Library's public calendar listings.

Information at these sessions will include: best practices and tips for renters; what to consider when choosing a place to rent; how to protect yourself from eviction; and how to get deposits back and repairs made.

The drop-in sessions will be offered by staff from Solid Ground, an anti-poverty and social service nonprofit that helps families keep or obtain housing while supporting them to overcome poverty and thrive.
