'Rhythm in Colors': Exhibit and Programs Highlight The Seattle Public Library's Local Jazz Project Through Aug. 13

The Seattle Public Library has a growing special collection on local jazz history! This summer, you're invited to visit the Central Library to see the exhibit "Rhythm in Colors," attend a jazz concert, lecture or film, and check out new online resources -- including oral histories -- at the Seattle Jazz Archive.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. All events will take place at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636 . The exhibit is on Level 8 of the Central Library.

Rhythm in Colors
This exhibit highlights Seattle's storied history with jazz as a historic black art form that has influenced the world and animated the city's cultural landscape, bringing people together. Exhibit features include oral interviews of jazz musicians, an overview of Seattle's youth jazz programs, audio and video clips of jazz performances and more. Tickets and registration are not required.

Industrial Revelation in Concert
Join us for a lunchtime concert featuring local quartet and Playback artists Industrial Revelation. The group will play sweat-inducing jams with big horn crescendos, rapid bass solos, lightning strikes of keys and rolling-thunder drums as they roll through a repertoire of jazz, post jazz, neo-soul, rock 'n' roll and more.

'Lady Be Good:' Women Play Jazz
Listen to a performance of the Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra. See the film "Lady Be Good." Learn about the history and evolution of women jazz instrumentalists from documentary filmmaker Kay D. Ray. Presented in partnership with Scarecrow Video.

'Rhythm in Colors' Jazz Talk
Local jazz legends Julian Priester and D'Vonne Lewis will lead an exciting discussion about Seattle's jazz history.
7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 19
Celebrating Ernestine Anderson with Eugenie Jones
Enjoy a film screening of "Ernestine Anderson: There Will Never Be Another You." Afterward, Seattle-based jazz composer and vocalist Eugenie Jones will sing a mix of numbers from Anderson's songbook and her own albums.
