'We Built This City: Seattle’s Historic Music Venues' Discussion at The Seattle Public Library Feb. 4

Join us for a panel discussion on Seattle music venues with local music writers, inspired by The 5th Avenue Theatre's upcoming production of "Rock of Ages," from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library's garage for $7 after 5 p.m.
The 5th Avenue Theatre’s upcoming production of "Rock of Ages" is set in a fictional rock venue being forced to permanently close its doors. Seattle's real-life stories of threatened and shuttered music venues have played out and continue to play out in our city—a city which is trying to reconcile its storied musical past with rapid development. How can we continue to preserve both memories of our past and the venues which still harbor our region’s underground musical lifeblood?
Panelists will include:
- Paul de Barros, author of "Jackson Street After Hours: The Roots of Jazz in Seattle"
- Jonathan Zwickel, senior editor at CityArts and author of "Beastie Boys: A Musical Biography"
