The Seattle Public Library to Restore Pre-Pandemic Open Hours at Most Libraries Dec. 6

Starting the week of Dec. 6, The Seattle Public Library will expand open hours, including additional evening hours, at most locations. With this expansion, 20 of the Library’s 27 locations will have returned to their pre-pandemic operating schedules, and every location will be open at least six days a week and offer evening hours at least two days a week. A complete list of Library locations and hours can be found below.
Additionally, beginning the week of Dec. 6, the Central Library’s Hugh and Jane Ferguson Seattle Room will reopen to patrons by appointment only. Appointments will be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons may book 30 minutes to 2 hours of time. There are four work stations available in the Seattle Room. Special Collections librarians will be available during appointments to assist patrons with their research needs.
Due to continued staffing shortages and other operational hurdles resulting from the pandemic, the full expansion of hours at seven libraries will be delayed until early 2022. The Central Library, which currently offers evening hours on Wednesdays until 8 p.m., will offer additional evening hours on Thursdays until 8 p.m. but will not add Monday and Tuesday evening hours until 2022. The Capitol Hill, Douglass-Truth, Northeast, Northgate, Southwest and West Seattle branches are also expected to return to their pre-pandemic schedules in early 2022.
MASKS REQUIRED
To comply with Washington state public health regulations and to protect all patrons and staff, especially those who have not yet been vaccinated and/or are at greater risk from COVID-19, everyone must wear masks while in Library buildings, regardless of vaccination status. All reopened locations are open at 100% capacity and currently do not require physical distancing by patrons.
