The Seattle Public Library Launches 'Lit Line' to Connect People to Literature

With Libraries temporarily closed and many of us isolating at home, it can be hard to feel connected to your Library. If you don’t use the internet regularly, The Seattle Public Library has a new service just for you: the SPL Lit Line at 206-386-4656.
Call the Lit Line at 206-386-4656 any time, day or night, to hear Library staff reading classic short stories and poems to inspire and delight you, as well as articles about historical Seattle scandals, triumphs and curiosities.
"Our digital resources are fantastic, but not everybody has access to them,” said Robin Rousu, supervising librarian with Mobile Services, who has been involved in creating Lit Line. “We wanted to find a low-tech way to offer patrons a connection to literature, history and the Library while they are not able to visit us in person.”
Each piece is under five minutes in length and may also include brief updates from the Library about services and resources. Content is available in English and Spanish and is refreshed every two to six days.
