The Seattle Public Library Presents Thrilling Tales in September

Need a break from the mundane? The Seattle Public Library offers "Thrilling Tales: A Story Time for Grown Ups" where you can laugh, gasp and shudder to live readings during your lunch or evening.

- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 – "The Painted Smile" by William Kent Krueger. Ten-year-old Oliver believes he’s Sherlock Holmes, and he isn’t the only one: just ask Professor Moriarty.
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 – "Floral Tribute" by Robert Bloch. Grandma lived right next door to the cemetery, which meant she always had fresh flowers, and the most interesting guests. Also, "The Lawyer and the Ghost" by Charles Dickens. A young attorney raises objections to his own haunting.

- 7 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 – "The Lie" by T.C. Boyle. Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive!
