Celebrate the Reopening of the Beacon Hill Branch of the Seattle Public Library April 30

The public is invited to celebrate the reopening of The Seattle Public Library's newly refurbished Beacon Hill Branch from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at the branch, 2821 Beacon Ave. S., 206-684-4711 .
The program will include brief remarks by City Librarian Marcellus Turner, a concert of Cuban music by Trovadoro, and performances by students from Kimball Elementary School. Refreshments will be available in the lobby.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Free parking is available in the parking lot on the west side of the building. The branch is served by Metro Bus routes 36, 60 and the Beacon Hill light rail station.
Library patrons can enjoy the reconfigured teen and children's areas, plug their devices in at the seating areas and tables, and print to a printer right next to the public computers.
After 12 years of use, the interior was improved to support the changing ways that patrons are using libraries. Patrons said they want quiet study spaces, areas where they can use a multitude of devices and collaborate with others, and spaces where they can sit with their children to read or use technology.
The changes were designed to make it easier for patrons to interact with one another, create flexible, open, welcoming spaces and improve access to technology.
