Thrilling Tales, Noon and Night: Stories at the Seattle Public Library

Need a break from the mundane? The Seattle Public Library offers "Thrilling Tales: A Story Time for Grown Ups" where you can laugh, gasp and shudder to live readings at noon and 7 p.m. on select Mondays of the month at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.
Library programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage at the regular rates. Brown bag lunches and knitting are welcome.
November's stories will include:
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 – "The Weapon" by Jeffery Deaver. Our Black-Ops interrogators would stop at nothing to reveal the enemy’s powerful new secret weapon – but will they find it in time?
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, 19 – "A Death in the Family" by Miriam Allen deFord. A new child is coming to their close knit family. Is it a blessed event, or the beginning of the end? Also "Miss Winters and the Wind" by Christine Noble Govan. She was gone with the wind!
- 7 p.m. to 7:55 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 – "Miriam" by Truman Capote. Capote’s first published story is a masterpiece of unease. Shy retiring Mrs. Miller makes a friend – a little girl - and her life will never be the same.
