Upcoming Summer Author Readings Presented by The Seattle Public Library

The Seattle Public Library has some exciting virtual author readings in store for you this summer! Hear from authors from a variety of genres on a range of topics, such as raising autistic children, the intersection of race and emotion in the United States, the role and history of the Duwamish River, and more.

- 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 – Clarion West Presents Editors Roundtable. We are thrilled to bring you a special event with editors Scott Andrews, Chinelo Onwualu, Julia Rios, and Wendy Wagner. Registration is required, sign up for free at EventBrite.com. This event is part of Clarion West’s Summer of Science Fiction and Fantasy reading series.
- 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 27 (date changed) – Clarion West Presents Open Mic Night in collaboration with Two Hour Transport. Participants of the 2020 Clarion West Write-a-thon can register to read their science fiction, fantasy and horror works! There will be open mic readings for the first hour, followed by featured readers (TBD) for the second hour. Open mic sign-ups will begin at 5:30 p.m. the day of the event, and registration opens on Monday, July 20. This event is part of Clarion West’s Summer of Science Fiction and Fantasy reading series.
- 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 27 - BJ Cummings, Cecile Hansen and Lynda Mapes discuss The River That Made Seattle. Learn about the central role of the Duwamish River in Seattle’s history, and how decisions about the river will impact its future. - 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30 - Cathy Park Hong. Join us for a discussion of "Minor Feelings." Part memoir and part cultural criticism, poet Cathy Park Hong’s new essay collection is vulnerable, humorous and provocative—and its relentless and riveting pursuit of vital questions around family and friendship, art and politics, identity and individuality, will change the way you think about our world. - 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 - Curt & Ana Warner with Dave Boling. Join us to hear the Warners discuss "The Warner Boys: Our Family’s Story of Autism and Hope," which talks about their life-changing experiences as parents of children with autism.
